Primary School Sports Premium Funding

SS. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Primary School sees Physical Education (PE) and creating healthy life habits as an important part of school life and our children’s future. This school follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for Nursery and Reception and the National Curriculum (revised 2014) for all other year groups.

Primary Schools Sports Premium Funding

In 2016-17 SS. Peter & Paul’s once again welcomed the Primary School Sports Premium Funding which has allowed the school to buy into the South Ribble Sports Development Active Schools Offer. During the financial year 2016/2017 the school has received a total of £6,237

This includes:
• the employment of specialist coaches to develop the teaching of PE and motivate and engage all children.
• Entry into South Ribble School Games Competitions

Teaching and Learning

Please see attached a copy of how teaching staff (using the Lancashire schemes of work for KS1 AND KS2) and South Ribble Sports Development coaches have been deployed to ensure a broad, balanced and challenging PE curriculum including health and well-being across all year groups.
In addition to PE lessons children have also had opportunities to take part in health and well-being activities.

These include:
• Dance From the Heart (A choreographed dance which culminates in an exciting roadshow) – (Whole School)
• Scoot safe (Years 2, 3 and 4)
• Heart Start (Emergency Life Saving Training) – (Years 5 and 6)
